Approach

I am Will, and I photograph families, weddings and portraits from a base in Bournemouth, on the Dorset coast. My degree was in photography at UCA in Surrey, where I specialised in portraiture, and people have been the subject ever since.

What holds my attention is how people are with one another. Nearly every frame here rests on a relationship of some kind: a parent and a child, two people at the start of a marriage, somebody sitting for a portrait and gradually deciding to stop performing.

The method is documentary. I follow a day instead of arranging it, so there is no posing, no staging, and nobody is asked to repeat anything for the camera. What you get back is what actually happened, edited but never invented.

I am a member of the Family Photojournalist Association, and I work across Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Surrey, and further afield across the UK. Enquiries come straight to me, not to an office.
